About us

Yeast Coast Sourdough: Where science meets the art of slow fermentation.

We’re a small family-run business based on Florida’s Atlantic coast. Yeast Coast Sourdough was born out of one simple mission: to help more people bake better bread at home.

Like many families, we started baking sourdough when store-bought bread felt too complicated. We fell in love with the simplicity of flour, water, salt, and time. Friends started asking for our starter after struggling to get started. The more we baked, the more research we did.

Our Superstarter is the result of this research. Through months of testing we arrived at a five-day process backed by science. We experimented with each of the variables that affect a starter's performance: feed ratios, flour blends, hydration level, and even water temperature. Once our starter was operating at its peak we explored optimal dehydration temperature and methodology. Through these variables we have selected for fast-growing yeast cultures, maximized microbe and LAB density, while reducing acidity. This results in a sourdough starter that rehydrates quickly at full strength. It’s not just dry discard: it’s alive and optimized to bake.

Every batch is handcrafted in small quantities using quality ingredients: filtered water, bread and organic rye flours, and a gentle, low-temperature dehydration method to preserve microbial activity.

Whether you’re a total beginner or a seasoned baker, our starter is ready to rise whenever you are.

Let’s bake something better together.
